|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
| [1] Introduction |
|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------|

Prototype, by Radical Entertainment and published by Activision, is a free-
roaming game which take places in modern day New York City.

The city has come under attack of an infectious disease, which turns everyone
it comes into contact with into Infected, mutants who resemble humans but are
very violent and otherwise have no resemblance to humanity. The U.S.
government military, and special forces unit, Blackwatch, is ordered to secure
the city by any means necessary.

You play Alex Mercer, an ordinary man given extraordinary powers by the
aforementioned group. Able to consume those around him and take on their
traits, Alex also has the ability to use various mutations to aid him, from
huge claws capable of disembowelment to a chain capable of ripping anything
around them in a 360 degree arc.

This guide is pretty much for informational purposes only, and will list all
the achievements available, their worth, and tips on how to do them. Please
send in any tips you have, as a guide like this basically thrives on user
input.

|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------|
| [2] Achievements |
|-----------------------------------------------------------------------------|

Achievements are listed alphabetically with the following format:

Name | Points
Description
Tips: Tip info

*********************
Standard Achievements
*********************

Au | 40
Achieve a rating of Gold or better in all events.
Tips: No tips really, just manage a gold medal in every event throughout the
game.

Brain Trust | 20
Complete all Consume events.
Tips: No tips again, just complete all consume events throughout the game.

Cleanup | 10
Kill 15 characters with a single Whipfist attack.
Tips: Any area that has a high contingency of people makes this achievement
mundane. Citizens or military both work.

Endless Hunger | 10
Consume 200 characters to boost your health.
Tips: No hidden timers or anything here, just consume a total of 200 people,
citizens or military.

Evolutionary Step | 10
Use the Upgrade Menu to acquire an upgrade.
Tips: Simple!

Gunning | 10
Destroy 20 helicopters in a single helicopter fight.
Tip1: There's an event called Friendly Fire. This event has you in a
helicopter taking out other helicopters, this was the easiest method to
getting that achievement as you have unlimited ammo. All it requires is
for you to react quickly whenever there's a helicopter inbound.
(Submitted by Stoaty Fox)
Tip2: I did this on normal difficulty, as soon as the helicopter became
available. Just get into a helicopter whilst disguised, and go around
killing helicopters one or two at a time. This can be pretty easy, as
when there's just one helicopter in the air at a time, your cover
won't be blown when you destroy them.
(Submitted by Un4Giverq)
Tip3: I found a spot above Central Park where other helicopters spawn, and it
only takes about one tracking missile to take down a helicopter. So
just go above Central Park and shoot them down, wait for them to spawn,
then shoot them again.
(Submitted by Spiffydude89)

Half-Truths | 10
Complete a mission without causing a single military alert.
Tips: Pretty simple. Don't kill people within eyesight of any military member,
don't consume within eyesight, don't have your mutations out. Pretty
much be a normal Joe.

Hard to Kill | 60
Complete Story Mode in any difficulty without dying.
Tips: This can be pretty difficult. Obviously playing on Easy will get you
the best chance. Save often and be prepared to repeat portions of the
game.

In Plain Sight | 10
Evade 10 strike teams.
Tips: Don't kill the strike teams, just take off running and jumping to avoid
them. Simple!

In the Web | 50
Consume 50 Web Targets.
Tips: Simple again, just consume a total of 50 targets that display the red
brain icon.

Infiltrator | 20
Infiltrate 10 Military Bases disguised as a Commander.
Tips: You'll easily acquire this during the course of normal play, as
sneaking into bases is the only way to acquire certain upgrades, by
consuming marked military personnel.

It's Him! | 10
Patsy 5 military personnel.
Tip1: An easy way to do this is buy the patsy upgrade when available and then
upgrade it for it to have a greater range. Then first select a soldier
then press RB and then press X when close enough.
(Submitted by Randy T.)

Mankind is Your Mask | 40
Complete 3 missions without causing a single military alert.
Tip1: Pretty simple. Don't kill people within eyesight of any military member,
don't consume within eyesight, don't have your mutations out. Pretty
much be a normal Joe.
Tip2: I would suggest trying this achievement during the story line when Alex
is poisoned by the specialist. For the next few missions you cannot
use your powers anyways so it's a good time to try for the achievement.
(Submitted by BxRad)

Misconception | 20
Destroy 25 Infected Water Towers before they hatch.
Tip1: Pretty easy. Several will be destroyed during the main game as they are
part of an objective. Otherwise, just head to any Infected hive and aim
for the towers.
Tip2: It's easier to find the towers if you look for crows flying around.
When you have cleared the area of towers the crows fly away.
(Submitted by ghost0308)
Tip3: The hard part of this achievement is actually finding the water towers,
however, once you unlock the Infected Vision ability, the Infected Water
Towers glow orange, making them very easy to find.
(Submitted by Moruk)
Tip4: This is especially easy to do with a helicopter since it only takes one
missile to blow up a water tower.
(Submitted by Josh)
Tip5: A useful way to destroy the water towers is with a fully charged elbow
drop when hammerfist is equipped. Fully charged, it is a one-shot kill.
(Submitted by MR)

Nice Guy | 40
Complete the game while consuming 10 Civilians or fewer.
Tips: Easy for most, hard for the evil of us. Don't consume more Civilians
then ten.

Polymath | 40
Collect all Hint Collectable scattered across New york City.
Tips: Easy, just make sure you find and run through all the purplish bubbles
throughout the city.

Pt | 60
Achieve a Platinum medal in all events.
Tips: Potentially one of the hardest, you must get a platinum medal in every
single event. And some of them are downright annoying.

Repossession | 10
Seize 50 vehicles from enemy hands.
Tips: Another easy one. Once you earn the ability to hijack vehicles, just
steal 50 of them. No time limit, take as long as you want getting those
50.

Return Fire | 10
Catch any object tossed by a Hydra; and throw it back.
Tip1: Not too difficult, just make sure you're facing the Hydra and catch the
object as it approaches, then immediately toss it back.
Tip2: Might want to mention that Hydras are the giant worms that come out of
the ground, to clear up any confusion people might have. Lock on to the
Hydra and wait for it to throw something at you, press B just before it
hits, and then throw it back. Very easy.
(Submitted by Moruk)

Revenge Revisited | 60
Complete Story mode on Hard difficulty.
Tips: Do the same thing as easy mode...it's just harder.

Self-Deception | 20
Discover what happened to Alex Mercer through the Web of Intrigue.
Tips: Easy; find and consume every web of intrigue target to uncover the truth
behind what happened through the Web of Intrigue.

SME | 20
Gain the ability to drive and fly all vehicles.
Tips: Easy; this will be unlocked over the course of the game.

Speed Bumps | 20
Run over 500 characters in a single tank.
Tip1: I find this easiest to get fairly early in the game, as soon as you
unlock the ability to drive tanks. That way, the majority of the
population is still unaffected, so you won't have tons of Infected
swarming your tank constantly.
Tip2: You may want to suggest driving down sidewalks in untinted (non-red or
blue) zones.
(Submitted by Leonon)

Streetwise | 50
Collect all Landmark collectables scattered across New York City.
Tips: Similar to the Hint achievement, find and collect all 200 blue bubbles
hidden throughout the city.

Surface-to-Air | 10
Shoot down 50 helicopters while driving armor.
Tip1: No time limit or successions required, just shoot down a total of 50
choppers with the rockets from a tank.
Tip2: Alerting strike teams will help you get more helicopters to come.
Hijack a tank and destroy everything that sees you except for one
marine. Wait for that marine to order a strike team and then destroy
the helicopters when they come. Should speed up the process.
(Submitted by BxRad)
Tip3: You can get this in the kill event with the missile launcher on a
rooftop where you have to shoot down choppers. No need for the tank
and it's way easier.

The Butcher | 30
Kill 50 characters in 5 seconds.
Tip1: I find it easiest to get to a concentrated area of civilians and cars,
pull out the Whipfist, use it and hit Y to activate the 360 degree arc
attack. Bada bing.
Tip2: This can also be done easily towards the beginning of the game when you
unlock tendril devastator. Simply go in the center of a busy street and
unleash it so you hit both sides of the street.
(Submitted by BxRad)

The Cleaner | 20
Destroy 10 Military Bases or Infected Hives in New York City.
Tip1: With this achievement, you have to destroy an Hive or an Military Base.
In a Base kill not just everyone inside, you actually have to destroy
the building too.
(Submitted by Randy T.)
Tip2: Killing the personnel inside the base doesn't count towards this
achievement, you have to destroy the building itself. This is most
easily done by hijacking a Helicopter or Tank, targeting the
building, and firing away until it's destroyed. It'll net you a nice EP
bonus as well as reducing Infected in the area (Hives), or
disabling Strike Teams for a short time (Military).
(Submitted by Moruk)

The First Thread | 10
Unlock the Web of Intrigue.
Tips: This will be unlocked automatically through the course of the game.

Threat Elevated | 20
Destroy 25 Strike Teams.
Tips: Easy; destroy 25 of the teams that the military calls in as
reinforcements.

Trail of Corpses | 30
Kill 53,596 Infected.
Tip1: What really helps to kill a lot of them is to get a tank, and drive
into an infected area (not necessarily at a Hive) and start blasting
away. Another, maybe not so fast method is to consume a lot of npcs
and in a heavy crowded area with infected, do some chained
devastators, the Tendrill works very good with this.
(Submitted by Randy T.)
Tip2: The fastest method I've found is to play certain Kill Events that
require you to kill Infected. My favorite is one of the later
ones called Rolling Thunder, in which you pilot a Thermobaric Tank.
I've gotten 1100 points in one go, where each infected civilian is worth
one point. Just roll on through and fire at the crowds and you'll add at
LEAST 400 to your infected kill count before time runs out. Simply rinse
and repeat. Not only do you have infinite ammo for this Event, but
infected mobs spawn everywhere.
(Submitted by Raptor Jesus)

Unnatural Selection | 40
Acquire all available upgrades.
Tips: Easy to do, just takes time to acquire the EP (Evolution Points)
necessary to purchase every single upgrade.

Web of Knowledge | 60
Acquire all nodes of the Web of Intrigue.
Tips: Find and consume everyone, enter all military bases, play through the
game, and this will eventually unlock.

Wrecking Yard | 20
Destroy 2,000 vehicles.
Tip1: Again easy and again time consuming. You can destroy any vehicle, be it
civilian or military.
Tip2: If you hijack a tank and just drive over the cars it counts as a kill.
(Submitted by ghost0308)
